SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- This July, a visit to the Asian Art Museum situated in 200 Larking St. in San Francisco, across from S.F. City Hall, will be "A MUST VISIT" for all. The reason is its many diverse activities for families and children which include: Music, For all who like to sing, Science for those interested in visualizing and learning more about the cosmos, attending a lecture, or just shopping, in its store for a unique one-of-a-kind gift for a friend or a relative. Free, with Admission, will be An Evening of Karaoke and Community Sing-Along on Thursday JULY 21 at 5 PM that promises to be fun and like no other for those who not only love music, but like to sing-along. The repertories of music will be varied. From what we may describe as "oldies, " to what are considered Ancient classics, in today's new pop standards. But, The best part of the evening, is that this time, instead of being silent in the museum listening to the music, you can become the STAR, by jumping into the TNT Trysikel standing on the small stage, inside the museum and sing, or jumping into the motorcycle-side car with a built-in Karaoke Machine emblazoned with symbols and markers of Filipino-ness, (A tribute to San Francisco 's Filipino and Filipino American community created by artists Michael Arcega and Paolo Asuncion, and demonstrate to the audience your talent as a Karaoke singer and dancer. And for those interested in science, they could visit VISUALIZING THE COSMOS, in the Collection Galleries where you can view, read about and even try to interpret the thangka painters' visualization of the creation of the cosmos, which is fascinating.
The exhibition is unique, because each painting reveals the way, in an array of visual strategies, and in their selection of shapes, color and representation of imagines of the Himalayan painters in their quest to translate transcendental perceptions into a tangible form that people could see and try to understand what its meaning is. And for Art lovers, the visitors can visit Carlos Villa: World in Collision Collection. which is part of a first-ever museum retrospective of iconic San Francisco born Filipino American Artist and Educator, Carlos Villa. located at San Francisco Arts Commission Galleries at the Asian Art Museum.
